New integrated technology platform makes it easier than ever to book in with your dentist
With an increasingly global spotlight on UK dentistry, access to high quality dentistry has become an important issue. Centre for Dentistry, the dental practice in Sainsbury’s, are eliminating barriers to access and embracing technology to make it easier and more convenient than ever to book an appointment with your dentist.
It is reported that almost 50% of NHS dentists are not taking on new patients and there are long waiting lists in many areas of the country. NHS cuts have had a negative impact on the service dentists are able to offer their patients. If you do manage to see an NHS dentist, chances are that you’d be in and out within 10 minutes.
An NHS that is “under-resourced and focused more upon experimental targets and tick-boxes than patients” (according to Tony Kilcoyne in his letter to The Telegraph, January 2018) doesn’t lend itself to a system with patient care at its heart. More and more people in the UK are turning to private dentistry and learning that it’s more affordable and convenient than they had first thought.
Centre for Dentistry are firmly focused on preventative dentistry to support the aim of keeping people in good health for as long as possible.
Cathal Hayes, Clinical Director at Centre for Dentistry, said:
“Prevention is always better than cure and that is why we at Centre for Dentistry put the prevention of dental oral problems at the core of our treatments. We take the holistic approach to dentistry. With increasing links between oral disease and conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and respiratory disease, we know that by preventing dental decay, patients can significantly reduce the risks of general health issues. Our £99 annual dental plan is designed to help our patients look after their long term dental health, as it includes routine dental check-ups and hygiene appointments. We also pride ourselves on helping nervous patients overcome their fears and get high quality treatment in a familiar, comfortable setting.”
Despite the importance of oral health, too many people neglect their teeth and gums. The sense that it is ‘only teeth’ and somehow less important than other aspects of physical health, remains deeply rooted. Combine this with the fact you may have to wait months to see your dentist, is it any wonder people are giving up and avoiding the dentist altogether?
Centre for Dentistry are delighted to launch online booking and a new patient app – the first dental app of its kind. The new CFD app “CFDent” has been designed to make it as easy as possible for patients to be in control of their own dental care. You can now book an appointment online or via the app directly with your dentist 24/7, at a time that suits you. It’s available to download in the App Store and Google Play now.
Centre for Dentistry has been at the forefront of innovation in the dental industry since the launch of their first dental practice inside Sainsbury’s supermarket in 2012.
Lisa Riley, CEO at Centre for Dentistry, said:
“We’re excited to launch our new patient app – the first and only dental app of its kind where patients can book appointments with their dentist in real time! This is revolutionary and we’re excited to be making huge strides in the industry. We’re based in Sainsbury’s for convenience, and everything we’re doing technology-wise is trying to make it easier and more convenient to see your dentist. We’re a private family dentist, designed to be affordable with a focus on helping patients plan for their long term oral health.”
David Harman, IT Director at Centre for Dentistry and creator of the CFI software platform said:
“Patients have always been the main focus for Centre for Dentistry’s service and the bespoke software used in our practices has been designed and developed specifically with the patient journey in mind. The app has access to real-time data, allowing us to be more transparent and provide the patient with useful information about their own dental care, revolutionising the patient journey and providing a seamless, more accessible service.”
What started out as a seed of an idea to transform the dental industry has now become a reality. Centre for Dentistry are leading the way, bringing a service directly to the customer and ensuring they are the most important part of that service.
Centre for Dentistry have built a network of over 98,000 registered patients, completed more than 260,000 dental treatments and are helping over 22,000 patients to keep up with their regular dental care via our annual dental plan.
