What makes your Mum’s smile the best?

Happy Mother’s Day – The Gift of a Healthy Smile

You may be thinking about what gift to treat your Mum to this Mother’s Day. You may be looking at the traditional gifts such as flowers, wine or chocolates. Whatever you decide, we all would love to see our mum smile not only on that one Sunday a year, but for the other 364 days as well. The team at Centre for Dentistry Chichester recently asked members of the public ‘What makes your Mum’s smile the best?’ Here are a few of our favourite responses…

The Gift of a Brighter Smile

A great alternative to the typical Mother’s Day gift could be you treating your Mum to a whiter, brighter smile. Has your Mum ever mentioned that she wants to have her teeth whitened? Have you thought about contributing towards her treatment? Having teeth whitening with Centre for Dentistry is simple, and we offer gift vouchers to purchase in practice. Simply purchase a voucher from your local practice, book your Mum (and even treat yourself too) for a routine check-up with the dentist and if all is well with your oral health, the teeth whitening process can begin.

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic treatment, which is favoured by patients of all ages. It helps to remove surface stains and discolouration on the teeth, whilst safely whitening the tooth enamel to improve the appearance of your smile. It isn’t a one-time treatment, and does need to be repeated as and when necessary. Professional teeth whitening is carried out under a dentist’s care and guidance and is the safest, most effective and convenient way to get the results you desire.

What is the procedure?

The procedure includes having impressions taken by a dentist to create a custom fit whitening trays. Once these have been made, your dentist will show you how to safely use the whitening gel syringe to inject a small amount of whitening gel into your trays. Our latest whitening product is Philips Zoom! and this can unlock a smile up to 6 shades whiter. It’s great to also remember that a bright white smile needs to be maintained by whitening your teeth after the initial treatment as often as recommended.

If you run out of whitening gels, not to worry! Top up gels can be purchased on prescription from the dentist at the practice, so you won’t go without. You also need to ensure that you practice good oral hygiene routines daily, to ensure that the whitening lasts and to maximise the effects. Many foods like coffee, curries or anything that stains, can contribute to the colour of your teeth deteriorating.

What whitening products do we offer?

How do you look after your smile during teeth whitening?

  • Brush twice daily for 2 minutes each time
  • Use a fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss in between your teeth
  • Visit your dentist regularly for your check-ups to help maintain excellent dental health
  • Remember the dentist is there to help you as best they can so you are encouraged to ask questions if you don’t understand something, and know that you can take your time.
